An interview with Mr. Ivailo Ivanov, on the occasion of the forthcoming edition of Light + Building

We now await the forthcoming edition of this year’s international exhibition Light & Building in the sector of lighting . As the official representative of the organizers, how did you cooperate with the companies that will be among the exhibitors?

Today we are witnessing a world that is so fascinating with its globality and high technology. The extraordinary time we live in provides amazing opportunities and is particularly favourable for creation of contacts. All this is a prerequisite for setting up a successful business in almost countless respects.

We, at Inter Expo Center, host many exhibitions and events. We are aware that because of the incredible dynamics of modern world, the international forums are increasingly important for each sector. The exhibitions are the places to exhibite the latest products , to find the right customers and business partners ,and to formulate long-term approaches.

As of April 1, 2016, we are the official representative of Messe Frankfurt in Bulgaria. Being one of the main organizers of trade exhibitons in the world, the fair is a key factor for all sectors. Among the main ones is the high-tech sector of lighting, electrical engineering, home automation and buildings. It is also targeted at the world's largest specialized sectoral fair - Light + Building, which is held every two years. It is of great importance to architects, interior architects, designers, civil engineers, engineers, artisans and distributors all over the world. This year it will be held between March 18-23, and its motto is "Connected - Secure - Convenient". Worldwide, Messe Frankfurt's events for lighting and building technologies are organized on three continents – in Europe,Asia, and South America. They integrate and present the various aspects of lighting and building services. They include 13 fairs stretching over 600,000 square meters; 7,200 exhibitors and 503,000 visitors.

Inter Expo Center, as the official representative for Messe Frankfurt in Bulgaria, has always supported Bulgarian businesses. For this year's Light + Building we provided assistance in all possible ways. We support Bulgarian companies with detailed information, we discuss time limits, assist in the selection of booths and consult them, so that they would perform to the maximum.

What is the number of Bulgarian exhibitors in 2018 and what types of companies do they represent ?

During its last edition in 2016, Light + Building attracted 2626 exhibitors, whose booths are built over an area of 249,100 sq.m and were visited by 216,610 visitors.

Once again during the global forum in 2018 Bulgarian companies will participate with their own booths. There will be a total of 11 companies from our country. They will demonstrate products in the field of smart wall plugs and lighting, lighting fixtures and LED technology, lighting components, LEDs, electronic products, cable bundles, sensors, electrical panels and spotlights.

Is there any tendency among the participants over the years and how much is this related to the current state of the sector in our country?

Every subsequent edition of Light + Building registers an increase in exhibitors, visitors, presented products and services. In 2018 there was an increase of 5% in the number of exhibitors compared to the previous edition. Most of them are companies from Italy, China, Austria, Poland, Great Britain, Belgium, the Netherlands, Turkey.

The positive global trends, of course, are directly reflected in our country as well. Well-recognized Bulgarian companies in the sector are looking for new markets and partners abroad. And the best place to do this are the large-scale events that bring together the whole sector. The interest of Bulgarian businesses towards Light + Building is constantly growing. This is evidenced by the tendency of every subsequent edition to register more and more Bulgarian booths with their own booths. All this is another proof that many Bulgarian companies target not only the Balkan region but also the European and world markets. In this connection, I would like to highlight the positive trends for doing business in Bulgaria. They are demonstrated by the exhibition Bulgarian Building Week, which will be held at Inter Expo Center from March 7 to 10. The enlarged commercial areas and the increased interest in the country and abroad are a direct result of the positive conditions in the sector.

What would be the advice you would give to those who want to see Light + Building ? Are you organizing a general visit to the exhibition?

Light + Building is of key importance to the sector. To visit it is investing in the future of any company. Considering the presence of global leaders, innovators and professionals, the added value that would  bring your presence there as a visitor or exhibitor is huge. For the 2016 edition there is registered a nearly 20 % steady growth of Bulgarian visitors . In fact, Light + Building is the second most visited event by Bulgarian companies in Frankfurt after Automechanika.

Being the official representative of Messe Frankfurt in Bulgaria, Inter Expo Center assists for the organization of company visits from Bulgaria through a variety of means. We are open to national industry, because Bulgarian businesses have a lot of capacity, innovation and desire for development. We are available at any moment to do our best and help all those willing to visit the global forums of Messe Frankfurt.
